Upper Eyelid

What is Upper Eyelid Surgery?

Antiaging Upper Eyelid

The aging of eyes are much faster than other parts of the face since the eyes are constantly moving. One of the main symptoms of aging is droopy eyelids. In many cases, sagging eyebrows and forehead are accompanied with the natural aging process. These conditions can reduce the field of vision and cause discomfort in daily life. Upper eyelid surgery, also known as the upper blepharoplasty, can correct the sagging skin, tissue, and weakened muscle in the upper eye area. The primary goal is to remove excess skin and sometimes fat or orbicularis muscle with the intent of restoring the upper eyelids to a more youthful appearance.

Who is it Recommended For?

1. For those who have droopy eyelids due to aging
2. For those who have severely droopy eyelids which disturb vision

Benefits of the Upper Eyelid Surgery

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is a relatively safe and proven operation. Because the eyes are the focal point on the face, the procedure may achieve anything from a subtle to dramatic improvement in a person's appearance, depending on the starting point and patient preferences. A reasonable expectation is that you will obtain about an 80 to 90% improvement.

How is the Upper Eyelid Surgery Performed?

Antiaging Upper Eyelid

Upper blepharoplasty uses a full incision along the crease to remove excess fat and sagging skin for a youthful eye appearance. If necessary, ptosis correction is performed in conjunction to strengthen the weakened eye opening muscles.

Brow Pexy

What is Brow Pexy?

Brow Pexy

As we age, our eyebrows begin to droop, which results in an angry, worried, or tired appearance. Frequently performed at the same setting with eyelid surgery and often through the same eyelid incision, brow elevation (also known as browlift or forehead lift) surgery is a way to elevate and stabilize the droopy eyebrows. Brow Pexy is the most popular surgical method among the brow lifting surgeries. This elegant and effective technique removes the need for additional skin incisions and can be performed simultaneously with the upper eyelid blepharoplasty. Brow Pexy involves removing the excess upper eyelid and brow fat, in addition to repositioning.

Who is it Recommended For?

1. For those who have droopy eyelids giving a tired and older appearance
2. For those who have droopy eyelids which hinder the vision
3. For those who have droopy eyelids causing eyelashes to poke the eyes
4. For those who want to improve saggy skin

How is Brow Pexy Surgery Performed?

A browpexy lifts the eyebrow through an upper-eyelid incision. The brow is raised just above the level of the bone and physically sewn to a higher position on the forehead. There are two methods in conducting this surgery

Brow Pexy

Method 1. Incision Above the Eyebrow

If there is little space between the eye and eyebrow, an incision is made above the eyebrow to pull and tighten the skin. If an incision is made below the eyebrow, this may end up in creating a stuffy appearance.

Method 2. Incision Below the Eyebrow

If there is ample space between the eye and eyebrow, an incision is made below the eyebrow to pull and tighten the skin. This brings satisfying results, especially if the outer corner of the eye is droopy.

Lower Eyelid

What is Lower Eyelid Surgery?

Lower Eyelid

As people age, elasticity of skin and muscle tension are reduced in the lower eyelids along with changes in the orbital fat pockets. And these conditions create the look of an older or tired appearance. The lower eyelid surgery, also named as the lower blepharoplasty can correct this with excess fat removal or transposition and lifting the droopy under eye skin. This surgery uses a full incision just below the lower eyelid eyelashes to bring an outstanding anti-aging effect.

Who is it Recommended For?

1. For those who have wrinkles and sagging low eyelids
2. For those who have bulging or loose eye bags
3. For those who need skin elasticity and tension of the muscle
4. For those who have severe dark circles

Benefits of the Lower Eyelid Surgery

Lower eyelid surgery is one of the most satisfying surgeries to remove unsightly eye bags, sleepy-looking eyes and multiple skin folds. Just like the upper eyelid surgery, mainly middle-aged clients look for this surgery. Especially, if you stressed because of the eye bags shown in your pictures, you may consider coming to Korea for this. Restore the youthful appearance of the eyes.

Incision is made on the conjunctiva, and upon completion of the surgery the incision site is sutured from the inside which allows no visible scars. Fats are repositioned or removed depending on how patients were diagnosed. Saggy skin is corrected by repositioning of fats. The incision site is sutured and patients may return to daily activities.

Thread Lift

Thread Lift

Korean Thread Lifting is a revolutionary treatment and technique developed by Korean plastic surgeons. The surgeons use a series of different types of thread, often referred to as brand names such as Silhouette Lift, Mesh Lift, Gold Lift and so on. These are used to tighten and volumize areas of the skin that are loose or sagging. Much like suspension cables, they are designed to hold up the skin in place, and provide a supportive structure that defies the effects of gravity and aging.

Effects and Benefits of the Thread Lift

If you would like to rejuvenate and restore your youth, thread lifting is a great option to lift up your brows, cheeks, jowls and the neck area. Each suture or thread has cones or knots which help to hold lifted skin in place. Made of permanent or absorbable materials, similar to those used in cardiovascular and opthalmic surgeries, the sutures are designed to have imbedded cones or hooks which work to stimulate collagen production while holding the thread in place.

The benefits of a thread lift include shaping and lifting, and can give dramatic results. We suggest the thread lift for those who are in their thirties to sixties. Younger patients who want to improve their facial contours, or those with facial asymmetry may also consider this treatment.

Who is it Recommended For?

1. For those who are concerned with wrinkles between the eyes, nose, and neck
2. For those who wish to improve smile line and saggy cheeks
3. For those who wish to have a natural young look
4. For those who wish to have a small and tight face
5. For those who wish to have a lifting effect without incision
6. For those who are worried about the pain and recovery time
7. For those who wish to have quick recovery with no side effects

Popular Thread Lifting Types

Thread Lift

Type 1. PDO Thread Lift (Polydioxanone Thread Lift)

Special medical thread that is approved by both MFDS and FDA are used. Advanced melting threads fills in saggy cheeks and deep wrinkles to improve elasticity on the whole face. It is a high elasticity lifting thread which improves droopy skin on the cheek area and gives improvement to the wrinkled faces with anti-aging effects.

Type 2. Gold Thread Lift

It is a procedure which consists of inserting the thread into the skin that is coated with particles of pure gold on a PDO thread surface. It is an advanced lifting method which removes wrinkles and restores the skin elasticity by producing collagen. In addition, it can improve the skin tone for people especially in their forties to fifties, with skin complexion improved by the skin capillaries development.

Type 3. Elasticum Lift (Elastic Thread Lift)

Unlike the general thread lift, it is a new type of thread lift, which has tufted polyester surrounded on silicone for the natural elastic effect on face and body with minimum incision and quick recovery.

Type 4. Mesh Thread Lift

Mesh lift includes inserting the mesh thread, an elastic and net-like material, and pulling it to remove wrinkles. The inserted mesh thread, even after it is transplanted on the face, maintains its elasticity and gently follows the muscle movement which creates a natural anti-aging effect.

Type 5. V-Lift Thread

This face lift surgery, which has been used for over fifty years, uses special medical thread that has two to three times more wrapping power than the regular thread. It is inserted into the skin layer and pulls the wrinkles, resulting in a semi-permanent effect. In addition to skin regeneration from collagen synthesis, the skin tone also improves.

How is the Incisional Lifting Surgery Performed?

While techniques vary according to a patient's specific needs, thread lifting generally involves the use of a thread that is inserted under the skin in a way that helps the skin be lifted. Before a thread is inserted, markings are made to determine the proper point of entry, directional vectors and exit point.

Some techniques require a small incision to be made at the entry point, while the newest methods, which the Korean Doctors mainly use, need only a puncture which is created with a large gauge needle. A thread is then inserted along the previously marked lines. Once tightened, the thread's cones or hooks help to hold the skin in a lifted position.

The results are immediately visible and continue to improve in the next 2 months as collagen remodeling takes effect. Some patients feel minimal discomfort such as a slight ache or sensation while chewing or smiling, but this fades within the first week. Slight dimpling, bruising, and swelling is normal within the first few days, but improve rapidly as the sutures are absorbed. The incisions made for the entry and exit points are tiny and will heal quickly.

What is Endontine Lifting Surgery?

Endotine Lift

Endotine is a kind of thread used for face lifting and an implant used for pulling wrinkles. It is fixed within the skin layer in order to tighten up the desired locations which smoothens out wrinkles, increases skin elasticity, and provides anti aging effects. Endotine lifting is commonly and mainly used to lift up the upper facial parts. This procedure is especially effective for thick and deep wrinkles. It creates a more natural and semi permanent face lifting effect, which is popular among middle and upper aged patients.

What is Endotine?

Endotine Lift

Endotine is a pyramid shaped device with 5 small hooks, used to hold the tissue in place during the lifting procedure and healing process. Endotine devices help simplify the surgery process and provide a broader range of adjustment for brow height. Endotine is safe to use and has been approved by both the United States and Korean FDA.

Who is it Recommended For?

Incisional Lift

What is Incisional Lifting Surgery?

Incisional Lift

The incisional face lifting surgery can also be called as SMAS lifting. This procedure removes the SMAS tissues within the skin, which has sagged due to aging, and has the effect of pulling the skin upwards for a tighter and younger looking face. The skin is not simply pulled out, but the drooping muscle tissues are removed in order to make a permanent anti-aging effect.

This procedure is recommended for people with moderate to severe signs of aging. This type of incisional method can offer a dramatic anti-aging result. A decade ago, aesthetic surgeons only targeted the skin and sub-cutaneous layer, which only gave short term results. At the present, surgeons are now targeting the SMAS layer which delivers drastically better results. The scars also heal very smoothly. The pulling strength to make the skin tighter comes from the SMAS layer, which greatly reduces skin weakening and re-sagging.

* SMAS: Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System

Who is it Recommended For?

1. For those who wish to improve facial wrinkles
2. For those who have drooping cheeks and chin from aging
3. For those who have experienced no effects from other lifting procedures
4. For those who are looking for long-term results
